i found a font that works great with MTC and their rhinestone feature. the font is called existence light and can be downloaded here, i still had to do some tweaking with it but it was a lot better than some of the other fonts i've tried. i hope that this is helpful! here's an example i did with this font.

miss priss *update*
my friend priscilla is the queen of bling! she loves all things bling. she blings EVERYTHING!!
at a recent pool party for our department cilla brought her ice chest she just bought that day. she said she got the cheap one at walmart and had to put her name on it cause everyone is going to have the same one. so she put her name on it...
AND yes, she did blinged it! she said what man is going to try and take my ice chest?!?! :) she said the diamond she drew on it was going to be her new symbol. that got me to thinking. i made my first MTC original design with cilla in mind. using the basic shapes i made a diamond.
after i made the image i thought that i could make it into a rhinestone template to make a shirt for her.
this was my first real rhinestone template. i couldn't wait to put it onto a shirt for her...
it turned out GREAT, i can't wait to give it to.

my busy thursday afternoon...
i spent this past thurs afternoon playing. it was a blast! :) first i made an ice bucket for my friend lisa to go around her pool.
here's the bucket i picked up at walmart for $9, then i added some vinyl that i cut out with my spiff cricut...

and then tada....
lisa loved it! it was such an easy gift and it was very CHEAP! :) two of my fav things!
then after my bucket i embellished a bag i found at walmart for $5....
i found some pink fringe at joann's and sewed it around the top and put some ribbon on top of the fringe to hide the stitching. i've ordered some hot pink HTV to put an initial on the front. i'll be sure to post an update as soon as i've finished it.
THEN, i made my mom's shirt. she wanted a shirt to wear to watch my brother play basketball. she asked if you can order zebra print HTV. i told her i wasn't sure but we could make it by layering and use the school colors instead of black and white. so after a little working with MTC i had my zebra print TCA letters. i started off with a plain grey t-shirt...
then added my HTV, i did a white shadow layer then green solid layer then my blue zebra print layer on top like so...
now to place it...
still needed a little something, that's when i busted out the bling. i think it turned out pretty cute!
i also made 2 little oneies for a lady we go to church with that just had a baby. one with her initial on it and the other with a blinged out heart. i ran out of crystals for the heart, i was like 7 short, of course! so no photos yet but all in all i would say it was a pretty productive afternoon! :)

i found a new love...
i've been playing with heat transfer vinyl (HTV) and i've found a new love! i got tickets at work to go watch the texas rangers so i had to make us shirts!! i finally got some heat transfer vinyl and thanks to all the peeps on the MTC forum i'm now a pro! :) i can't believe how easy it was!! so i started off with my blank t-shirt that i bought on sale at micheal's (2 for$5).
next i cut out my image from MTC, using the a blade depth of 4, a pressure setting of med, and speed setting of 3. the HTV comes with a shiny clear transfer covering on the front of the vinyl to use as transfer tape. you want to make sure that you don't cut all the way thru this. i found out the hard way with my first attempt and it was a major pain in the hind quarters! anyway after my image was cut out i weeded the excess and placed it centered on my shirt. i bought the siser easy weed HTV and they aren't lying when they say easy weed. i was a little nervous about how i was going to get it all out but in comes right out.
after deciding where to place my design it's time to iron, you have to use some sort of barrier when you iron. you can get teflon sheets to use but since i'm new to this and trying it out i used a plain brown paper grocery sack. (read about that on the MTC forum)
press firmly for about 10 secs all over the whole design.
after you have pressed your design all over you are ready to peel off your transfer paper. the nice thing about siser easy weed is that it is a hot or cold peel. i found that if it's slightly warm it peels better but it peels just fine cold too. i let it stand for a moment because right after ironing that plastic is a little warm! :)
i wanted a layer effect so i next added my top layer. on 1 of my shirts the top layer went down perfectly but on the other 2 i had a little trouble getting it to line up right soooooo, i ironed down one side of the top layer (about half) and then lined up the other half and while holding it in place i put my grocery sack back down and ironed over the second half. now again because this is really my first experience with HTV i'm not sure if this is normal or if i'm doing something wrong. it worked out though! i'll keep you update if i learn some other way!
this summer at work we are having a contest... our "mascot" is sheriff lonestar. when we go on vacation or anywhere really and we take lonestar with us we are to take pics and the best photo wins every month. well i'm taking lonestar with me to the game on my shirt, but first i had to deck him out in his rangers gear. i photoshopped his cowboy hat and replaced it with a rangers hat.
i add lonestar to my shirt and he's ready to go...
after i got all my shirts done i had to add a little bling with my new rhinestone applicator tool i got last week.

mav loved her bling, but the boys wouldn't let me add any bling to theirs. can you believe it?? here are the final results of the shirts...

angry birds...
ok so bayley is going to legoland with some friends for a summer outing. before picking up his friends for the sleepover i had to stop by micheal's for my weekly bargains and found t-shirts 2 for $5! well the wheels in my brain start turning, lets make.... ANGRY BIRDS!!!
after gathering everything together, i used scrap material and wonder under that i already had at home, we are ready to get angry...
i got the angry birds idea from my svg files i created the other day using my make the cut software (only the best software ever invented!! thanks a bunch andy!!)
after creating all the birds, i created the shirt with the intention of making it with my kids, but now we can have fun shirts for our outing and i can be the COOLEST mom ever!!! :)
so, i cut my scrap material to fit on my cricut mat and then cut my wonder under (steam to seam, whatever you chose to call it) the same size and iron it together to make a piece of "material paper" to run through the cricut.

i then placed my "material paper" material side down on the cricut mat and secured it with painters tape.
now let the cutting begin... (one "little" side note here, make sure that your design is set to mirror image since the material side is facing down. otherwise your image will come out reversed. trusted me, :) i had to redo the eyes!!)
now while i'm SLAVING away over a cutting cricut and a hot iron the boys are outside breaking in the new pool liner that was just installed earlier in the day. (the pool is literally being filled while they are swimming)

while they are outside, i put together the pieces using basic paper piecing. i figured the least amount of ironing that a 10 year boy is going to have to do the better!! now to put the faces on the shirts...

of course MY kids the ham!! :)
and then (insert the glowing lights and ahhhhh music here).....
we had so much fun! the boys were SOOOO excited, and the best part was that they were really excited and not just acting excited to make me feel good. our day trip was a blast, i fully recommend legoland it was well worth the day. our shirts just made the trip, i can't even begin to tell you how much people commented on our shirts not to mention the looks! it was awesome!

SHHHHHH don't tell......
so maverick brings home tom the turkey,
now with tom the turkey comes this poem:
i have a bird i really love.
it's not a hawk. it's not a dove.
it's a turkey. it's my best friend.
he'll be beside me 'till the end.
the problem is the end is near
for thanksgiving is almost here
turkey's get eaten in large supplies!
so my dear bird friend i must disguise!
soooo.... our job is to set out to disguise poor tom the turkey from being eaten in 2 weeks. i had the brilliant idea of using my fabulous paper dolls cart to make tom some clothes. i gave maverick the booklets and let her decide what she wanted tom to be and what did she decide??? a cheerleader of course! so she colored tom...
and of course he looked great...
i then used mtc and my snipping tool to get the cheerleader graphic from the cart, thanks to cuts by connie, and tweaked the cheer-leading outfit to fit tom's voluminous figure. next we cut out our cheer-leading outfit complete with shoes, pom poms, ponytail and school spirit to boot. and then presto change o.....
tom the turkey has become tomitia, my best friend....
SHHHHHH, don't tell! ;)
